Wigwam Western Summit is located on the eastern end of the hairpin turn on the Mohawk Trail. A wooden fence has an extension over the side of the summit. On the extension is a sign which is inscribed WELCOME TO AMERICA'S SWITZERLAND. From this lookout there is a scenic view to the west of the Taconic Mountains which are part the Appalachian Mountains that form the border between Massachusetts and New York. The view is pleasant but don't expect Switzerland.
