NL Onderweg naar het Dolfinarium kwamen we langs een mooi bushokje. Het is beschilderd met natuur-taferelen. Onder andere op de zijkant een hert (waar je mooi je kop door kan steken). Ik las in het volgende artikel dat het in maart 2022 af is gemaakt.

Beeldend kunstenaar Jan Mastenbroek voorziet het bushokje in Speuld van een nieuw uiterlijk. Eind deze week moet het klaar zijn. Isabel van den Broek, mede-eigenaar van snackbar ’t Speuldje, vond het bushokje een doorn in het oog. ,,We maakten het ieder jaar schoon, maar er was geen eer meer aan te behalen. Het is oud, maar met de nieuwe beschildering kan het nog jaren mee,” aldus de ondernemer. Ze werkt regelmatig samen met Jan Mastenbroek, die inmiddels ook woonachtig is in Speuld. ,,De connectie was dus gauw gemaakt.”

Mastenbroek kreeg de opdracht van de gemeente Ermelo. Een duurzame oplossing, want zo hoeft het hokje niet vervangen te worden. Door de beschildering gaat het bouwwerk op in het landschap. ,,Ik maak er ook nog een grapje in,” vertelt Mastenbroek, die uiteraard nog niet wil verklappen wat dat is.

Door de voorjaarszon en de -vakantie is het druk bij ’t Speuldje. Toch neemt Isabel van den Broek de tijd voor een praatje bij de bushalte. Ze is heel blij met het werk van Mastenbroek. ,,Er is veel onderhoud gepleegd aan de weg. Er ligt een gloednieuwe straat. Alleen het bushokje was in een verschrikkelijke staat.” Dat heeft ze aangekaart bij de gemeente Ermelo. Zo ging het balletje rollen. Mastenbroek: ,,Maar mijn werkzaamheden zijn best weersafhankelijk en er ging veel voorbereiding aan vooraf. Ik moest het geheel goed schoonmaken en in de grondverf zetten, anders hecht het niet goed.” Nu nadert het de voltooiing. Vrijdagmiddag 4 maart (2022) is de officiële onthulling van dit openbare kunstwerk.

Visual artist Jan Mastenbroek gives the bus shelter in Speuld a new look. It should be ready by the end of this week. Isabel van den Broek, co-owner of snack bar 't Speuldje, thought the bus shelter was an eyesore. ,,We cleaned it every year, but there was no credit to be gained from it. It is old, but with the new paint it can last for years to come,” says the entrepreneur. She regularly works with Jan Mastenbroek, who now also lives in Speuld. ,, So the connection was quickly made.”

Mastenbroek was commissioned by the municipality of Ermelo. A sustainable solution, because the cubicle does not need to be replaced. The painting makes the building blend in with the landscape. ,,I also make a joke in it," says Mastenbroek, who of course does not want to reveal what that is yet.

Due to the spring sun and the holidays, it is busy at 't Speuldje. Nevertheless, Isabel van den Broek takes the time for a chat at the bus stop. She is very happy with Mastenbroek's work. “A lot of maintenance has been done on the road. There is a brand new street. Only the bus shelter was in a terrible condition.” She raised this with the municipality of Ermelo. That's how the ball started rolling. Mastenbroek: ,,But my work is quite weather dependent and a lot of preparation went into it. I had to clean the whole thing well and prime it, otherwise it won't stick well." Now it is nearing completion. Friday afternoon, March 4 (2022) is the official unveiling of this public work of art.
