St Alban's traces its lineage to the first Anglican service on the island in 1793. The first church, St James Anglican, was built around 1836. As the population of the island grew, a requirement for a second Anglican church serving the western end of the island became apparent. In 1877 Christ Church, near Emerald , was completed.
The property of St James Anglican was sold, and the new church, St Alban's, was consecrated in 1890.
The church is still active, with regular weekly services. The interior is open to all on Loyalist Days as part of the Doors Open program.
