Globe Street Overpass - globe, AZ - Orphaned Bridges on Waymarking.com

Built in 1939, this timber bridge was designed to carry automotive and foot traffic over the railroad track. The tracks were cut into the hillside in a residential area. The bridge deck was covered with a layer of asphalt on top of heavy timbers. The bridge is supported by beams embedded in concrete on either side of the tracks. The bridge was rated as in poor condition in 2000 and is closed to all traffic. Several streets lead around the tracks, facilitating traffic through the neighborhood.
