The German Monument Register (
visit link) reads:
"Description:
Formerly one-story, now two-story gabled half-timbered house under gable roof. On the street front volute nails and beam carvings.
Built in 1772, gable roof and projecting gable. 1912-1913 raised one story and massive store addition on first floor. 1948 Carvings on upper floor and gable by E. Ricken. 1958 store addition on first floor, removed in 1978 and first floor closed with half-timbering.
Monument justification:
The town house Große Straße 12 has a historical significance due to its testimonial and visual value for the building history and as an exemplary late baroque half-timbered house, which was rebuilt many times (the redesign of the facade in the sense of the townscape preservation in 1948 should be emphasized), as well as an urban development significance for the streetscape, therefore its preservation is in the public interest."
