DONATED IN MEMORY OF MRS. FAY AUSLAENDER (MAY 1, 1914
APRIL 2, 2000) IN THE SPRING OF 2003 FOR ALL TO ENJOY THIS
GREAT PIECE OF WESTERN RAILROAD HISTORY. BORN IN
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY, SHE CAME TO COLORADO WITH
HUSBAND, IRVING, AND SON FELIX, IN 1971. SHE FELL IN LOVE
WITH COLORADO, AND ALL DECIDED TO STAY. SHE BECAME
CUSTODIAN OF THIS ECLIPSE WINDMILL IN 1980. PRESERVING THIS
RELIC WAS HER PASSION AND WISH. THE WINDMILL'S WHIRLING
MELODY WAS LOVED BY ALL, ESPECIALLY FAY'S GRANDSON
MARTIN GERARD AUSLAENDER.
This windmill was used by the railroad to pump water to fill water tanks for the steam engines.
