The congregation of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church was organized in 1838. They met in members homes until their church was constructed in 1846. Additions to the north side of the church were constructed in 1899 and 1992. (

The Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church is designed in the Greek Revival style. A set of steps leads up to a central, blue, two door entrance which is contained within a frame and flanked by sidelight windows. The front of the main block of the church has two stained glass windows. The south side of the church has two large stained glass windows.
The pediment above the entrance projects from the gable roof. Rising from the gable roof is a two stage tower. The lower tier is a square tower the upper tier is a square belfry with louvered windows flanked by a pair of Doric piasters.
