The 3 inch naval gun was a common gun on US Navy warships and support vessels. Larger than 40mm bofors but able to be mounted in more places than larger 5 inch naval guns. Was used on submarines in WWII and called a deck gun. Dual Purpose mount allowed use against surface targets and aircraft.
