The Congregational Society in Riverton was formed on April 19, 1842. They constructed their Greek Revival-style church, designed by Willard S. Wetmore, in 1843.

A set of steps leads up to a central portico entrance. The pediment above the entrance is supported by four Doric columns. The Rising from the gable roof is a two stage tower. The lower tier is a square tower the upper tier is a square belfry with louvered windows flanked by fluted Doric columns on each side.

The west side of the church has four 4 by 4 double hung windows and a ramp which leads to an auxiliary, covered entrance. A brick chimney is located between the second and third window. The east side has four 4 by 4 double hung windows.
