Orchard Community Park
Acrylic paint, photo transfer on panel
This mural was inspired by the artist's time spent with her children
at Orchard Park. The hills, forest and escarpment to the north make
this park feel special. The natural landforms lift this park above the
busy neighbourhood. The mural captures the area's past, when this
land grew apples and other fruit to feed people. It is still serving
the residents of the area, students, and visiting sports teams with much
needed recreational space. It is important to remember that past and
make a connection to the present. Look closely and you will see the
faces of Burlington residents in the apples in the mural, to reinforce the
connection between the environment and community."
