Lake Arrowhead State Park is a 524 acre park on a 16,200 acre lake near Wichita Falls and Henrietta, also within driving distance from Oklahoma. Swimming, boating, and fishing are the primary activities on the water, with over five miles of hiking trails, disc golf, camping (including some equestrian sites), and plenty of scenery. There are several day use areas throughout the park as well, with grills, picnic tables, and play areas.

As of this posting, the entrance fee is $4 for each person 13 years and older: If you are a regular or have a group, you might consider an annual state parks pass, which pays for itself quickly. When the ranger station is manned, they'll take care of you, but otherwise, you'll square up with the self-pay station there. Annual pass holders have a placard for their rear view mirror, and the rangers advise placing your identification into the placard. Do be aware that the park rangers patrol the area, looking for scofflaws.

There are no posted hours, and the parking lot is lit after dusk. When in doubt, check with the folks at the ranger station at 940-528-2211, or call the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at 940-686-2148. Otherwise, you may visit any day of the year, even on holidays.

There are five lanes with four boarding piers, and four of those lanes are quite wide. There are a few life jackets you may borrow if you don't have your own. If you're fishing, you can feel free to cast your line once you're away, but they're pretty clear about not fishing or swimming around the boat ramp. There's a nice picnic area here, with a rest area and a fish cleaning station, and fishing is permitted from the shore, no permit required.
