The city of Leuwarden has the "Oldehove" tower, an unfinished church tower built between 1529 and 1532, on its manhole covers. The tower image is slightly tilted like the original, a grid pattern in the background has been added to the lid to emphasize the tilt.
The tower was never completed as the ground gave way during construction and the tower tilted as a result. The associated church had to be demolished in 1596, the tower survived the centuries.
The manhole cover is located on the sidewalk, a little southwest of the meeting point of the streets Nieuwestad, Peperstraat and Werdenerdijk. We looked in vain for the year and the manufacturer on the cover.
