Sitting Art
In 2007 werd in Woerden op het Defensie-eiland het beeldhouwerssymposium 'Sitting Art' gehouden, georganiseerd door de Rotary Woerden. Deelnemers waren tien kunstenaars uit landen die in 2004 tot de Europese Unie waren toegetreden. Hun opdracht was iets te maken uit duurzaam materiaal bedoeld voor de openbare ruimte waar men op moest kunnen zitten.

Driepoot (Three legged)
Zoals de titel al aangeeft: het beeld staat op drie poten, twee poten achter en één voor. Normaliter is het bij een driepootstoel juist andersom (twee voor en één achter). Denk bijvoorbeeld aan de Costes stoel van Philippe Starck. Het vlakke stuk en het rechtopstaande stuk nodigen uit om erop te gaan zitten. Als je dat doet kun je genieten van een mooi uitzicht over de Oostsingel.

Sitting Art
In 2007, the sculptor symposium 'Sitting Art' was held in Woerden on the Defence Island, organised by the Rotary Woerden. Participants were ten artists from countries that joined the European Union in 2004. Their assignment was to make something out of durable material for the public space that people should be able to sit on.

Tripod (Three legged)
As the title suggests, the sculpture stands on three legs, two legs at the back and one at the front. Normally, with a three-legged chair it is the other way round (two at the front and one at the back). Think for example of the Costes chair by Philippe Starck. The flat part and the upright part invite you to sit on them. If you do, you can enjoy a nice view of the Oostsingel.
