The marker is mounted horizontally on a stone plinth near the sidewalk.

The inscription reads: "Born in Sydney, Cape Breton 1894, Peter enlisted in Canadian Forces after war broke out in 1914. While serving in Europe, he was wounded in France and hospitalized for three months. When hostilities ended in 1918, he earned a law degree from Cambridge U, and soon after entered politics. On his second attempt, he became the MP for the Isle of Wight, and was reelected until his retirement in 1959. When World War II broke in 1939, he became a Flying Officer in the RAF and served during the critical "Battle of Britain". As the adjutant of the squadron led by air ace "Legless" Douglas Bader, his efforts contributed greatly in influencing Sir Winston Churchill to provide larger fighter plane formations in defense against the very powerful Nazi air force invaders. His lengthy service in government and in both World Wars earned him a Knighthood."
