Walcha Courthouse is designed in the Victorian Italianate style and constructed in 1878. The building has iron-stone foundations, colonial bond brick walls, grey granite window sills and a corrugated iron roof. The interior walls are 6m high.
A Court of Petty Sessions was established in Walcha in 1858. The present courthouse replaced a courthouse built in 1874 and demolished in 1877.
