Cast est une commune rurale où il fait bon vivre. Elle est située sur le versant sud des Montagnes Noires, au centre de la plaine du Porzay, à 10 km de la mer, face à la Baie de Douarnenez.

Cast vient du mot latin « castra » (lieu fortifié). Elle doit son nom à l’important Castrum romain (poste militaire), qui à l’époque gallo-romaine, surveillait les voies stratégiques menant vers Quimper, la Pointe du Van et la Presqu’île de Crozon.

Lorsque l'on regarde la vue satellitte sur Google Earth, on aperçoit à proximité une carrière. Il s'agit de la carrière CMGO (Carrière et Matériaux Grand Ouest) dont l'exploitation sont le sable, les granulats et les cailloux, vendu à des particuliers.

Cast is a rural town where life is good. It is located on the southern slope of the Montagnes Noires, in the center of the Porzay plain, 10 km from the sea, facing the Bay of Douarnenez.

Cast comes from the Latin word “castra” (fortified place). It owes its name to the important Roman Castrum (military post), which in Gallo-Roman times guarded the strategic roads leading to Quimper, Pointe du Van and the Crozon Peninsula.

When you look at the satellite view on Google Earth, you can see a quarry nearby. This is the CMGO quarry (Carrière et Marériaux Grand Ouest) whose exploitation is sand, aggregates and pebbles, sold to individuals.
