"Baltimore Campus-About the Campus
Located at 3702 Cliftmont Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, the Baltimore Campus stands on a hilltop of the Belair-Edison Community, serving the community while proclaiming and extending the transforming love of Jesus Christ.
National Wesleyan Church aspires to love God and people by partnering with residents, organizations, and other churches to address the heartfelt needs of the community.
HISTORY
In 1996, Reverend Keith Mitchell became the pastor of Cliftmont Wesleyan Church, formerly known as the First Pilgrim Holiness Church. Pastor Mitchell retired in 2008, after 12 years of service, due to illness. Following Pastor Mitchell’s retirement, Cliftmont Wesleyan Church was without pastoral leadership for about ten years.
In January 2009, Pastor Bernard Edward was appointed Interim Pastor. He served, with assistance from visiting pastors, until January 2010, when a decision was made to convert his role from an interim pastor to a supply pastor of the church. At that time, the church had eight regular members who had dedicated themselves to God’s service there, rather than moving on to other churches in the community. Pastor Edward led the congregation until his departure in August 2017.
Cliftmont Wesleyan Church was again left without pastoral leadership until January 2018, when the Chesapeake District Board of Administration (DBA) approved a resolution to transfer oversight and supervision of the church to National Wesleyan Church, located in Hyattsville, Maryland. In March 2018, National Wesleyan Church
appointed Pastor Mercy Nkesi, one of its assistant pastors, as Resident Pastor of Cliftmont Wesleyan Church.
In November 2018, the DBA authorized National Wesleyan Church to retire Cliftmont Wesleyan Church, and in January 2019, the Local Board of Administration of National Wesleyan Church officially dissolved Cliftmont Wesleyan Church.
National Wesleyan Church, Baltimore Campus, is a growing and vibrant community church that seeks to transform the lives of the residents of East Baltimore with the love, hope, and holiness of Jesus Christ."
