A l’allumage, le feu est blanc et fixe.
En 1880, il est équipé d‘une optique plus puissante.
En 2007, le feu passe à 2 éclats blancs toutes les 10 secondes. Actuellement, il est équipé de secteurs blancs et rouges.

Le phare n’est pas accessible. Il se trouve dans la citadelle dont l’entrée est interdite.
Le phare se voit du port.
