"This door, popularly known as San Miguel, is identical in composition to that of Baptism and is distinguished from it by its sculptures. The relief of the tympanum represents the Birth of Christ and is the work of Mercadante de Brittany. The sculptures of the archivolts are attributed to Pedro Millán, as are those of the door of Baptism. The latter, except for the figures of the prophets in the lower part, could be from the time in which the architecture of these covers was made, that is, before 1450. The figures of saints on the sides, also made by Mercadante, are: on the jambs the four Evangelists and on the outside San Laureano and San Fernando. During Holy Week, the brotherhoods enter the Cathedral through this door to begin their season of penance."
