Reading the local National Trust information board refers to the area where the OS bolt is located, as an ancient stone-age burial Cairn.
To find an OS survey bolt in the middle of a Cairn is perhaps unheard/ unusual.
But, given that the "Six Inch to the mile, Ordnance Survey was the most comprehensive at the time "pre-history" would or may not have been considered then. The bolt sits in the most prominent location, in the middle of the Cairn.
Being at the headland of Godrevy, and at the highest point. The Concrete pad to which the Ordnance Survey Bolt had been secured. Through time, weathering and footfall, the bolt has become polished.
If there were any markings they are long gone.
