This pillar stands on the 166 metre Clatto Hill in north-east Fife near the hamlets of Blebocraigs and Clatto, just over a mile to the west of the village of Strathkinness, and four miles west of St Andrews. The pillar stands on a grassy meadow just north of a small reservoir which marks the actual summit of the hill. It is in good condition with fine views towards St Andrews and the coast to the east, but trees obscure the view west and the reservoir the view to the south-east.
STEEPNESS: A gentle slope from the road to the south.
TERRAIN: Short pastureland grass.
ACCESSIBILITY: The pillar is a few hundred yards to the north of a country lane which leads from Blebocraigs, eventually turning into a rough path over fields to Strathkinness. A gate on the roadside offers access to the field containing the reservoir on top of the hill.
NAVIGATION: Heading north up the hill to the reservoir, the pillar remains hidden behind until the last few yards.
DANGER: None unless livestock in the field.
