The Stainless steel plaque would have replaced the outlet for the water to flow.
The Water fountain is now a memorial to "Maude Pascoe" who campaigned and raised funds to get drinking water for the village.
The fountain was commissioned December 1900, sadly Maude died before the fountain was commissioned.
