The museum houses many items from the beginning of the Piper Aircraft Corporation until the closing in 1984 on the second floor of the building. On the ground level are original restored aircraft that were manufactured in the nearby buildings.

The Piper Aviation Museum Foundation was formed to preserve the history and legacy of the Piper Aircraft Corporation and its founding family."
From their website: "The primary focus of our museum archives is the Piper Aircraft Corporation from 1935 to 1984. Books, photographs, slides, manuscripts, technical manuals and subject vertical files are the major categories of the museum holdings. A project to digitize our photographic slide collection was completed and pictures are available for a donation (see below). A project to computerize holdings is underway..
The Curator and volunteers working in the archives can respond to information requests. For a small donation, photocopies, photographic prints, and CD's can be provided if request is submitted in writing to the museum."
