DULA HOUSE
c. 1850 TO PRESENT

The Dula House at 408 E. Main St. sit on the last lot of the original 1855 platted village of Wentzville. It is the oldest remain structure on the original seven block plat of the city. The house and brick building on the property were owned by Robert Dula from 1878 until 1884. Robert was the owner of the Dula and Carr Tobacco Company from 1863 until 1885. When it closed and was purchased by the St. Charles Tobacco Company. Dula later became director of the Brown Tobacco Company of St. Louis. After leaving Brown Tobacco, he became Chairman of the Board of the Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company. The brick building, believed to have been built c. 1878, once held tobacco products and is the last remaining connection to the tobacco industry in Wentzville.
