This fine stone shelter, and other stone work in Big Spring State Park, was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps - in Big Spring, Texas.

The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed buildings and did some of the stone work here in Big Spring State Park. This fine shelter is an excellent example of CCC work. An information sign on the west side gives additional information, and has a photo of this shelter under construction. According to this web page the shelter was constructed in 1934 or 1935.
