Formed in 1955 in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, the Academy Players community theater is now at the James and Gloria Maron Cultural Arts Center in the Hartford neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. They stage multiple musical and dramatic performances annually and offer educational classes and workshops. As a nonprofit run by volunteers, the group relies on public support to fund its productions.
The Academy Players of RI was organized in 1955 by a group of enthusiasts in East Greenwich. The intent of the Academy Players is to provide the community with theatre on a high level to create civic pride in our organization, while offering a satisfying medium for those who participate. We are staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our actors, musicians and crew are from all over Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
