In 1909 Seattle hosted the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. This building was the Fine Arts Building and housed the fairs art exhibit. After the fair the building became home to the University of Washington's School of Architecture.

The School of Architecture still uses the building for student work space, but has moved its library and administration to Gould Hall, located across 15th Street.

Cunningham Hall is the only other building that remains from the fair, but remodels over the years has stripped it of its original look. Architecture Halls exterior remains as it looked in 1909, other than the skylights that have been added to the roof.
