La réplique du château de Rumebeke en bronze offerte par le club Kiwanis de Roeselare 1 8 octobre 2017 pour les 50 de service.

Le château de Rumbeke, sis à Rumbeke, un des faubourgs-sud de la ville de Roulers, en Belgique, est un des plus vieux châteaux Renaissance de Belgique.

Histoire

Selon la légende, en 862, après que Baudouin Ier (dit Bras de Fer), comte de Flandre, eut enlevé Judith, la fille de l’empereur Charles le Chauve, à Senlis, il vint trouver refuge avec elle au fort qui se dressait alors à Rumbeke. La jeune Judith semble l’avoir suivi de son plein gré. Après l’intervention du pape, ils purent se marier à Auxerre. Cet évènement est considéré comme étant à l'origine du Comté de Flandre.

Rumbeke Castle, located in Rumbeke, one of the southern suburbs of the city of Roeselare, in Belgium, is one of the oldest Renaissance castles in Belgium.

History

According to legend, in 862, after Baudouin I (known as Bras de Fer), Count of Flanders, had kidnapped Judith, the daughter of the Emperor Charles the Bald, from Senlis, he came to find refuge with her at the fort which stood then in Rumbeke. Young Judith seems to have followed him of her own free will. After the intervention of the pope, they were able to marry in Auxerre. This event is considered to be at the origin of the County of Flanders.
