The meeting hall for Elks Lodge 850 of Rhode Island EAST - District No. 8080 is on Social Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Meetings are the first and third Mondays except July, August and September when they are on the first Monday only. The stand alone, single-story, stucco covered building is about 14,000 square feet with a dedicated parking lot for approximately 85 vehicles.

At its southeast corner, nearest to the road, is an electric signboard with the BPOE 850 emblem above and a flag pole behind. To the immediate north, there is a collection box for retiring worn and tattered American flags.

A BPOE monument that includes an Elk statue and two granite markers is at the northeast corner of the building. The life-sized cast iron statue and a bronze-colored plaque are surrounded by a metal fence. The plaque behind and to the west of the elk reads:

Woonsocket Elks Lodge 850

Organized and Constructed by Exalted Ruler - James M. Castonguay, Sr.
2012 - 2013
"Big Jim"

The 'Elk' is the symbol for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Its spreading antlers are a sign of protection.
This Elk stands strong to show all we are the greatest organization in the U.S.
"The heritage of the past is the seed that brings forth the harvest of the future"
We thank our members below for their generous contributions.

Outside the fence in front and to the east of the sculpture, an upright granite slab is engraved with "Dedicated December 5, 1999" near the bottom of its front face. Two cast bronze plates are mounted above at the top and in the midsection. The larger, upper one is ornate bas-relief and includes BPOE antler and clock symbols along with the motto. The lower displays the lodge name and number.
