Originally planned as a three-way sighting partnership with Oklahoma, Texas and Florida. It ended up being a two-way partnership between Oklahoma and Florida.

We pulled up all the information from our various sources including Heavens-Above.com and all of them had conflicting information. But we wanted to do this sighting because all info indicated that the ISS would be passing in the shadow of the moon and we hadn’t seen this before.

Heavens-Above indicated the ISS would rise at 21:17:37 in the northwest sky, we can usually see it at this time but due to recent fires in our area a layer of smoke made the sky hazy at the horizon resulting in us not being able to see it until 21:20:03. Due to the bright magnitude we were able to see it clearly despite cloudy skies and it passing very near the 5 day old waxing crescent of the moon. The max was at 21:22:50, 59 degrees, at -3.3 mag, however we started to see it fade just as it reached max due to the moon’s shadow.

The max in Edmond was 20:18:49 at 67 degrees with no magnitude listed. The distance that the ISS traveled between the two locations was 4 minutes and 1 second, or 1,174 miles.
