Arnhem is een groene stad om trots op te zijn. Aan de rand van Park Sonsbeek ligt ons bezoekerscentrum Molenplaats Sonsbeek: dé plek voor informatie en inspiratie over groen en groenbeleving in Arnhem.
Bij Molenplaats Sonsbeek kunnen bezoekers van alles leren en ontdekken over het groen in de stad en het belang ervan. Het bezoekerscentrum is het ideale startpunt voor een kennismaking met de prachtige parken en andere natuurgebieden die Arnhem rijk is. Naast informatie over de natuur in en om Arnhem organiseert het bezoekerscentrum ook tal van andere activiteiten op het gebied van landschap, biodiversiteit en cultuurhistorie, maar ook op het gebied van gezondheid en klimaatbestendigheid. Natuurcentrum Arnhem is erg blij deze unieke historische locatie sinds 1 januari 2020 te mogen beheren.
In de 18e eeuwse Molenschuur is restaurant ‘A Beautiful Mess’ gehuisvest waar je terecht kunt voor koffie, thee en een Oosters georiënteerde lunch. In de naastgelegen Witte Watermolen kan je zien hoe graan tot biologisch meel gemalen wordt.
Molenplaats Sonsbeek is een verzamelplaats voor bijzondere ontmoetingen. Het is het beginpunt voor vele wandelingen en een goed vertrekpunt voor een fietstocht. Bij onze informatiebalie vind je van alles over wandelen en fietsen in de omgeving en groen in Arnhem. Zowel in de Witte Watermolen als in en om de Molenschuur zijn jaarrond leuke en interessante activiteiten te beleven op het gebied van groen en groenbewustzijn; rondleidingen, tentoonstellingen, bijeenkomsten, debatten, groencafés, adviezen over vergroenen van tuinen en meer. Bij de Witte Watermolen kunnen bezoekers biologische meel- en bakproducten kopen van de molen. Ook hebben we een winkeltje waar niet alleen biologische producten van de Witte Watermolen, maar ook diverse boeken, kaarten en geschenkartikelen te koop zijn."

Persoonlijke ervaring:
De klassen op de school waar ik werkte konden lopend vanaf school naar het educatie centrum waar we elk jaar lessen konden volgen over verschillende onderwerpen.
In de educatie klas ruimte achter het educatiecentrum waren ook altijd levende dieren te zien zoals verschillende slangen, hagedis soorten en een leguaan.
Vaaj mochten de kinderen zelf ook proefjes doen of hadden we een buitenles en gingen ze buiten met schepnetjes in de beek op zoek naar waterdiertjes.

Restaurant 'A Beautiful Mess' is housed in the 18th century Molenschuur where you can enjoy coffee, tea and an Eastern-oriented lunch. In the adjacent White Watermill you can see how grain is ground into biological flour.
Molenplaats Sonsbeek is a gathering place for special encounters. It is the starting point for many walks and a good starting point for a bike ride. At our information desk you will find everything about walking and cycling in the area and greenery in Arnhem. Both in the White Watermill and in and around the Molenschuur there are fun and interesting activities to experience all year round in the field of green and green awareness; guided tours, exhibitions, meetings, debates, green cafes, advice on greening gardens and more. At the White Watermill, visitors can buy organic flour and baking products from the mill. Personal experience:
The classes at the school where I worked were able to walk from school to the education center where we could take classes each year on different subjects.
In the education classroom behind the education center there were always live animals such as various snakes, lizard species and an iguana.
Vaaj the children were also allowed to do experiments themselves or did we have an outdoor lesson and they went outside with scoop nets in the stream to look for aquatic animals.
