This bell is located outside of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Greenville Avenue (Route 58) in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The bell is hanging from an arch in the churchyard next to the main church sign.
The bell was made at the McShane Bell Foundry in Baltimore, Maryland in 1894. On the side of the bell are the words, "Ad majorem dei gloriam," which is Latin for "For the greater glory of God." It also says, "Ecclesia Omnium Sanctorum. T.W. Cavanaugh, Pastor." This refers to an older church in the area that preceded Immaculate Heart of Mary called "All Saints Church."
