The church is located in an old house on Amsterdamsestraat. From the outside, little suggests that there is a church here.
Only a cross and a sign on the wall of the house let the observant walker know that services are held in this house by the Russian Orthodox Church.
The Russian Orthodox Church is one of the Eastern Orthodox Churches. The Patriarch of Moscow is in charge. The largest Russian Orthodox church building and the tallest Orthodox church in the world is the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
The Russian Orthodox Church is often referred to as the largest denomination after the Roman Catholic Church. However, no membership is kept, so only estimates about the number of believers are available. The church went through a renaissance from the 1980s, resulting in a growing number of believers, church buildings and religious institutions in the ex-Soviet states.
