The name of the body of water is "Lake Ray Roberts", while the name of the park is Ray Roberts Lake State Park, both bearing the name of the Texas congressman who succeeded Sam Rayburn and who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1962 to 1981. There are a few details about the ramp here. (visit link)

As of this posting, the entrance fee is $7 for each person 13 years and older: If you fish a lot or have a group, you might consider an annual state parks pass, which pays for itself quickly. When the ranger station is manned, they'll take care of you, but otherwise, you'll square up with the self-pay station there. While annual pass holders have a placard for their rear view mirror, wording on the paperwork at the the self-pay station suggests that it might be a good idea to fill it out anyways. Do be aware that the police and park rangers patrol the area, looking for scofflaws.

There are no posted hours, but the parking lot is lit after dusk. When in doubt, check with the folks at the ranger station, or call the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at 940-686-2148. Otherwise, you may visit any day of the year, even on holidays.

There are at least three lanes -- the lane in the center could accommodate two trailers, but ask yourself if you trust the next guy with that maneuver so close to you -- separated by two small boarding piers which are clearly labeled that fishing there is a no-no: Either do your fishing from the shore or save it for once you're away, and there's a fish cleaning station and "Catch of the Day" board nearby. There are restrooms with running water near the west end of the parking lot, which can handle up to 125 vehicles.
