This plaque can be found on the north wall of the lifeboat station in the town of Broughty Ferry on the north bank of the Tay estuary to the east of the Scottish city of Dundee. It commemorates the eight lives that were lost in 1959 on the lifeboat 'Mona' that capsized in a storm out on the estuary.

The Watson Class lifeboat, Mona (ON560), was purchased in 1935 for £6,802 and was still the main lifeboat at the station when it was launched on December 8th 1959 to the help of the North Carr light-vessel that had been reported broken adrift. Weather conditions were exceptionally severe with a strong south-easterly gale blowing across the entrance to the Tay. The lifeboat capsized with the loss of its eight man crew.

The plaque was unveiled on June 3rd 1962 by Lord Provost McManus, and it is at ground level on the wall of the station facing Fisher Street. The inscription reads as follows:

'IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THE CREW
