Cet édifice religieux a été transformé au 18e siècle autour du chœur, dont la peinture murale de l’abside faite par Toni Casalonga. Elle a deux petits clochers rectangulaires et renferme un orgue remarquable construit en 1881.

L'église paroissiale de l'Immaculée Conception est caractérisée par les deux clochetons à coupole qui surmontent sa façade. Celle-ci, sans doute réalisé fort tardivement, vers la fin du XIXème siècle / début XXème siècle, unifie un intérieur divisée en trois nefs en s'inspirant du frontispice de la Trinità dei Monti à Rome.

Elle est sans doute la plus charmante dans sa simplicité

Dans l'abside, Toni Casalonga a réalisé une fresque en 1971. Dans la niche vitrée à droite du maître autel, on peut apercevoir une toute petite statue de marbre blanc, de facture naïve, représentant la Vierge : son caractère original lui a valu d'être inscrite à l'inventaire du patrimoine.

Les deux autels latéraux sont surmontés chacun d'un grand tableau, certainement oeuvre d'un atelier local. celui de droite représente les 15 mystères, qui tour à tour sont joyeux, douloureux et glorieux, se lisent en partant du bas gauche pour arriver au bas droit en faisant le tour de la toile.

Celle-ci porte une mention " SUMPTIB OLIM SIMONIS PETRI CONSALVI TALE ALTORE FACTUM FUIT ",
(cet autel a été réalisé autrefois avec l'argent de Simon Pierre Consalvi).
Il est difficile de dire à quoi correspond cet "autrefois" car la toile n'est pas datée.

Celui de gauche, daté de Septembre 1718, représente l'Immacolata, écrasant de son pied le serpent, et on voit y figurer quatres arbres :
un chêne, un cyprès, un palmier et un olivier.
Malheureusement, à ce jour, nous n’avons pas encore rencontré de documents d’archives concernant cette magnifique église. L’abbé F.J Casta, directeur des archives historiques du diocèse d’Ajaccio, pense que la paroisse de Pigna a toujours été comptée avec le puissant voisin de Corbara.

The parish church of the Immaculate Conception is characterized by the two bell towers with dome that surmount its facade. The facade, probably realized very late, towards the end of the 19th century/beginning of the 20th century, unifies an interior divided into three naves, inspired by the frontispiece of the Trinità dei Monti in Rome.

In the apse, Toni Casalonga made a fresco in 1971. In the glass niche to the right of the main altar, there is a very small white marble statue of the Virgin Mary, of naive workmanship: its originality has earned it a place in the heritage inventory.

The two side altars are each surmounted by a large painting, certainly the work of a local workshop. The one on the right represents the 15 mysteries, which in turn are joyful, sorrowful and glorious, and are read from the bottom left to the bottom right, going around the canvas.

Unfortunately, to this day, we have not found any archival documents concerning this magnificent church. Father F.J Casta, director of the historical archives of the diocese of Ajaccio, thinks that the parish of Pigna has always been counted with the powerful neighbor of Corbara.
