The Giraffe style sign and entrance gates were built in 1933.
The main gate, today, was a side road back then. The true main entrance has an elaborate wrought iron gate held in place with stone cairn columns.
The pedestrian gate holds the "cornerstone" for the structures. Both the vehicle and pedestrian gates have matching wrought iron swing gates.
The cemetery was established in 1856:
"In 1838, Fr. Ferdinand Helias, SJ, celebrated Mass in the Anthony Fox, John Foy, and Hilden homes. Records indicated that the first church was built in 1851, others say 1856. The first school was built and the cemetery property was purchased in 1856, as well." ~ Diocese of Jefferson City
