Ce cadran marque l'opposition entre heure vraie donnée par un cadran et heure
moyenne donnée par une horloge.
Il a été fabriqué à une époque où chaque ville réglait ses horloges en fonction
du temps moyen du lieu
L'horloge solaire Bollée, réalisée
en fonte, est en fait un cadran solaire équatorial, monté sur un piédestal
d'une hauteur de 1,50 m.
Le style est composé d'un axe placé dans le plan du méridien local. Il est
parallèle à l'axe de rotation de la Terre, il est incliné d'environ 48° par
rapport à l'horizontale (latitude du Mans). D'un diamètre d'une dizaine de cm,
il est terminé à son extrémité nord par une boule munie de cinq piquants.
La table est constituée d'une
couronne semi-cylindrique, subdivisée en heures, demi-heures, quarts-d ‘heure
et minutes de 7 heures du matin à 5 heures du soir. Les heures sont indiquées
en chiffres romains. À midi, un intervalle entre les deux chiffres XII permet
de prendre en compte le diamètre du style.

Dial

This dial marks the opposition between true time given by a dial and average
time given by a clock.
It was made at a time when each city set its clocks according to the average
time of the place
The
Bollée solar clock, made of cast iron, is actually an equatorial sundial,
mounted on a pedestal with a height of 1.50 m.
The style is composed of an axis placed in the plane of the local meridian. It
is parallel to the axis of rotation of the Earth, it is inclined about 48 °
with respect to the horizontal (latitude of Le Mans). With a diameter of about
ten cm, it is finished at its northern end by a ball equipped with five quills.
The
table consists of a semi-cylindrical crown, subdivided into hours, half hours,
quarter-hours and minutes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The times are indicated in
Roman numerals. At noon, an interval between the two digits XII allows to take
into account the diameter of the style.
