"It is an entertainment venue in the capital of Spain located at number 66 from Gran Via Street.
Opened as a theater in 1913 on the site of the old Mostenses market , three years later it became a cinema until the original building was demolished for the construction of Madrid's Gran Vía street.
A new project by Germán Álvarez de Sotomayor was inaugurated as a cinema in 1944 with the premiere of El rey de las Finanzas , by director Ramón Torrado.
After more than half a century as a theater for film premieres, it was converted in 2004 into a space for the performing arts, with the name of Teatro Compac Gran Vía de Madrid. In 2017 it already appeared under the name Teatro de la Luz Philips Gran Vía. As of November 16, 2019 and for sponsorship reasons it is called Teatro edp Gran Vía."
