A Windsor-made 1946 Ford F5 1/2-Ton Dually. In February 1942, Ford Canada halted civilian auto production to aid in the war effort (during WW2 Ford [Windsor Assembly] and GM Canada [Oshawa Assembly Plant 1 - North] built over +800,000 trucks and armoured personnel carriers. More than any other nation during WW2). The 1946 Ford trucks were particularly special in that they were the first Ford truck models built in Canada following the end of WW2 in 1945. In fact, parts from the 1942 model year were used on the 1946 to cut costs in an effort to keep women and returning GIs employed.
