A cast steel bell, presumably from a former building, stands on a brick and concrete pedestal outside the present building of the Congregational Church.

County of church: Miller County
Location of church: west side of MO-42, opposite Pearl Street, in the center of town

The bell is about 34 inches in diameter, and was made by C.S.Bell of Hillsboro, Ohio. The yoke has been broken in two places and the repair plates that have been bolted onto it completely hide any original inscription there. However, the ornate curlicues in four places on the yoke are compatible with an early date of manufacture, some time between 1875 and 1882.

A metal plaque on the side of the pedestal is unreadable because of shallow engraving and subsequent weathering. A nearby monument indicates that the church celebrated its 125th anniversary in 1996, which means that it was organized in 1871.
