Built in 2009, Cathedral Of The Northern Lights is an architectural landmark in Alta. The spiral-shaped 47-meter-high tower follows the shape of the Northern Lights. Both the cathedral and the tower are coated with titanium which can reflect the northern lights.
Inside, the Cathedral consists of raw concrete, titanium and wood. The decoration and the liturgical furniture in the church room were designed by the Danish artist Peter Brandes. The cathedral was designed by the architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen
The cathedral can seat 350 people.
