This building (part of a Dutch Monumental complex),
was built for the fire brigade as a training tower and drying room for the fire hoses.

According to the Dutch national Monument register:
"introduction
FIRE HOSE TOWER with GARAGE, located diagonally behind the town hall, at the municipal residence at Raadhuisplein 3. Built for the fire service as a training tower and drying room for the fire hoses.
Description
Square, four-storey brick tower, surmounted by a raised rim with brick battlements. The battlements are finished at the top with a natural stone frame. The front has gates from the floor and a narrow metal staircase. The facade on the ground floor is blind.
On the left is a narrow single-storey extension under a flat roof. It contains two arched gates with wrought iron fittings. The gates have small square windows with large iron grilles in front of them. There are a few openings in the side wall, also equipped with grilles."

Currently the building is part of the Huis van Waalwijk organisation. According to its website:
