Next to the Cathedral Of The Northern Lights is the statue of the Norwegian scientist Kristian Birkeland. He is best known for explaining the natural phenomenon of Aurora Borealis. Birkeland was nominated for the Nobel Prize seven times.

The sculpture is about 2 m tall. The bust itself, which represents Kristian Birkeland, is made of cast iron. The bust is placed on a granite plinth with black text. The text is as follows: Kristin Birkeland, the Physicist who solved the mystery of the Northern Lights
