esp:"Hubo de ser una de las primeras de la nueva pola de Navia cuando su fundación o, mejor, adquisición del nuevo estatus, ya que la villa de Navia preexistió a la solemne decisión regia. Así, lo refiere José Manuel de Trelles Villademoros, nuestro primer genealogista, natural de Salcedo. Esta vetusta casona, que pudo disponer en sus origenes de un huerto donde destacarían las copas de diversos limoneros, era propiedad de la poderosa Casa de Navía desde finales del siglo XII, y la siguió poseyendo a través de una de las múltiples derivaciones de su linaje, una vez asentada la rama matriz en el palacio del valle de Anleo en el siglo XIII. Sabemos que uno de sus posesores fue Alvaro Pérez de Navia, a mediados del siglo XVI. Tiempo después fue adquirida por el escribano del concejo, Garcia Morán, quien su vez la vendió a Alonso López de Navia y Bolaño, señor de la casa del Lienes según se menciona en su testamento, fechado en el año 1599, El actual edificio, fruto de las continuas restauraciones y ampliaciones del primigenio, se puede fechar en los siglos XVI-XVII. Consiste en una casa- bloque torreada, ornada de canteria bien labrada en la puerta principal, vanos y esquineras, resolviendose el resto del edificio con sencillos sillares de pizarra. Fue propiedad de los Menéndez Navia y Villamil, por lo que en su noble fachada luce las armas de estas dos ultimas casas: un guerrero con espada, en el primer cuartel; aguila real en el segundo y tercero, con mirada a la derecha; y castillo almenado en el cuarto y ultimo. Hace unos anos, desalojado el inmueble que habia ocupado la Benemérita Guardia Civil, fue adquirido por el Ayuntamiento de Navia, que procedio a su acertada restauracion para acomodar en sus dependencias diversos despachos y servicios municipales."
