The 59,000 square-foot science and cultural center located on 233 acres near the Mall of Georgia, is surrounded by an area that is rich in both natural and cultural history.
Get ready to receive an exciting, yet educational experience with the center’s montage of enchanting cultural explorations and exciting hands-on science exhibits. The center will feature both permanent and featured exhibits. All of the center’s permanent exhibits have been designed with input from the Gwinnett County School System to ensure that each exhibit’s content supports the requirements of the AKS (Academic Knowledge & Skills Curriculum) of the Gwinnett County K-12 School System.
While these exhibits will play a huge part in enhancing the center’s educational programming they are just one of the many educational program activities the center will offer. The center’s more than 233 acres of land will also be used for additional hands-on science education programs, cultural and history education programs, as well as numerous passive recreation opportunities such as bike riding and hiking.
The center will also be Gwinnett County’s first "green" building to meet the standards of the U.S. Green Building Council's—Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The center’s design is targeted for a LEED Silver-Level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. As a result of the center’s sustainable design strategy, stormwater runoff will be minimized, indoor air quality will be improved, energy use will be reduced by 35%, and water use will be reduced by 50% .
