Fridthjov Anderssen was a Norwegian composer, organist and choir conductor. He was born on 26 April 1876 on Moldjord in Beiarn and died on 9 May 1937 in Bodø. He grew up in a family where his father was very interested in music and played both guitar and organ. Fridthjov followed the same interest and began early to play the organ as well as compose choral works. In 1895 he held his first public concert as an organist.
He soon became an admirer of Wagner and his own music he has written in a late romantic tonal language, often with advanced chord passages and modulations. One of his most famous organ works is "Of Deepest Need". In addition, he has composed music for organ, piano and choir.
In 1938, a memorial stone was erected over Fridthjov Anderssen in Bodø.
