The Salt Creek rail bridge is a reinforced concrete girder bridge, one of only three of this type constructed in South Australia. The bridge carries a single 1.6m gauge track on a ballasted deck over four 8.3m spans.
The northern pier is seriously undermined and may collapse after a fast flow of water.
