Old postcard where you see the Nidaros Cathedral without the two towers to the west. The postcard is from 1934. The western front with the two west towers was mainly completed in 1965. Nidaros Cathedral has a long building history and consists of building parts that are between 30 and 850 years old. Numerous fires and remodels over the years have given it, its present appearance.
Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim is Norway's most important church. It is considered both as Norway's national shrine and as a coronation church.
Skt. Olav's tomb in Nidaros Cathedralhas been an important place of pilgrimage since his canonization in 1031. Pilgrims from all over the world still perceive the cathedral as an important destination when walking the pilgrimage routes.
