" Le Dodengang (en néerlandais, également appelé Tranchée de la mort en anglais et Le Boyau de la mort en français) est un site commémoratif de la Première Guerre mondiale situé près de Dixmude, en Belgique. Le site est situé à environ 1,5 kilomètre (0,93 mi) de l'Ijzertoren au centre de la ville, et situé directement sur les rives du canal de l'Yser.
Le Dodengang est une section de 300 yards (270 m) de tranchée préservée où de nombreux hommes ont été tués pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. La tranchée a été commencée au moment de la bataille de l'Yser qui était occupée par des soldats de l'armée belge. Faisant partie du front de l'Yser, il a joué un rôle clé dans la préservation de la ligne de front dans cette zone et l'arrêt de nouvelles incursions allemandes à travers le canal de l'Yser. Les soldats belges ont combattu ici dans les conditions les plus périlleuses jusqu'à l'offensive finale du 28 septembre 1918.
Lors de la bataille de l'Yser, l'armée belge s'est retirée derrière le canal de l'Yser et s'est retranchée. Les fortifications belges sur le front de l'Yser le long de la rive du canal se composaient d'une tranchée et d'une série de bunkers, tous conçus pour arrêter l'avance allemande.
Au nord des fortifications belges se trouve une zone où l'armée allemande a traversé avec succès le canal de l'Yser et érigé un bunker en béton, à quelques mètres seulement de l'endroit où l'armée belge occupait la position.
Après la guerre, le Dodengang est devenu l'un des premiers sites mémoriels de Belgique à être ouvert au public en tant qu'attraction touristique. Un nouveau musée a été construit sur le site ces dernières années.
Une pierre de démarcation y a été inaugurée en 1922 par le roi Albert. Il fait partie d'une série de bornes en pierre tout le long de la ligne de front occidentale de la mer du Nord à la frontière suisse. Les marqueurs sont sculptés dans du granit rose et mesurent environ un mètre de haut. Au sommet de la pierre de démarcation se trouve une couronne de laurier surmontée du casque de l'armée belge qui a stoppé l'avancée allemande ici."
